Workshop Guides, Change Your End Can.

Changing you end can is the most cost effective route to a bit of extra performance, plus it makes your bike breath a whole lot better.

And depending on which end can you go for, you will more than likely have to get the bike Dyno jetted, if you want it to run sweetly, and not hole any piston's due to a weak mixture, but we're only going to be showing you how to change the end can here. If you need to re-jet you'll need to visit a dyno centre.
It's a very easy and straight forward task, and all you need apart from a new end can of course is couple of spanners to fit the 3 bolt's where the can bolt's to the mid pipe, and either a couple of more spanners or allen key and a spanner to undo the bolt that goes through the end can strap where it bolt's to the foot rest, and not forgetting a NEW metal gasket that goes between the end can and the mid pipe.

Step 1, then, is undo the 3 bolt's that hold the can to the mid pipe, leave them
in place at the moment just loosen them.
Start Here
Step 2,
undo the bolt that holds the end can strap to the rear foot rest, and remove it, while supporting the the can with one hand, fully loosen and remove the 3 bolt's that hold the can to the mid pipe, so you end up with your bike looking a bit like this one on the right.

Step 3, Fit the new gasket in place, and offer up the new end can to the mid pipe, and while supporting it, screw the 3 bolt's in to the front end of the new can, and do them up finger tight.
Step 2, remove the end can.
Step 4,
Slide the can strap down the can and position it to the rear foot rest, and slide the bolt through, screw the nut on to the end loosely.

Now tighten the 3 bolts at the can to mid pipe connection, now either do them hand tight or if you have a torque wrench tighten them to 19 ft lbs (26 Nm)
Now tighten the can strap bolt hand tight, or to 15 ft lbs.
Step 3, Fit new end can.

Finally give your new end can a good polish to remove any finger prints, start you bike up and listen to it's new found rortyness.

Sit back and pat yourself on the back in a Job well done.

Go for a blast and try not to get noticed by the police, (hopefully)

Step 4, New can in place and sounding much, much better.
