To adjust the head race bearing's You'll need to remove the top yoke, you don't really need to remove the screen brace, but I would suggest you do, as it makes life a bit easier.
If your going to remove the screen brace, you'll need to remove both mirror's and the two front fuel tank mounting bolts
First remove top yoke bolts
Remove top stem nut
Undo the the top yoke clamp bolts as the picture. (pic 1) above
Undo and remove the top stem nut.

Gently prise the top yoke up and away from the forks.
Using a screw driver prise the tab down on lock nut, and remove the upper nut.

Using the Preload spanner from the tool kit, Tighten the head races so you get slight resistance.
Put the locking washer on the lower nut and screw the upper locking nut down
while holding the lower nut, tighten the upper nut through a further 90 degree's so the slots aligned with the locking tab's.

Finally; put the top yoke back on, put the top stem nut on and screw it down, then torque it up to 76 ft-lbs. Tighten all the other bolts in the handle bars clamps to 17 ft-lbs and the top yoke clamp bolts to 17 ft-lbs.
